As a Mother, every once in awhile a product comes along that is a complete game-changer. The Claro Baby Shopping Cart Cover certainly falls under this category! I have two sons, my oldest (Jax) is 4 and my little guy (Max) is 7 months old. I intend to use this product for both of my children. They are both apart of the generation that is being coined as the ‘Covid Kids’, it’s a sad new reality where we are as afraid of germs as we are of strangers, where we were abruptly cut off from our friends and family for an entire season, and where face masks block smiling faces. It is a scary time, both for children and for parents.
Our little family is from New York, and the pandemic hit here HARD a month after Max was born, so we took our quarantine very seriously. Thankfully we dodged the virus during its peak in our area and are now able to get back to a somewhat normal lifestyle.
When my first son was born back in 2010 I used to love taking him out shopping with me. Obviously I waited until after his 3-month shots to do so, but there were some days that I would literally hang out at BuyBuyBaby just to get out of the house and be around other Moms. It was a big part of my socialization during the week while I was out on maternity leave. These days, even with the low infection numbers, it is downright scary to think about taking a baby to a store for an extended amount of time. In a perfect world I would keep my little guy sheltered until this whole nightmare was completely behind us, but sadly that just can’t happen. I can’t call for a babysitter every time I need to run to the store.
Prior to this cover coming in the mail I was taking Max in his stroller and carrying a shopping basket around. For small trips it was fine, but at the supermarket it just didn’t work. It would be a complete lie to say that a piece of fabric gave me the confidence to take my son (who is still under a year) into stores now without a care in the world. I’m still cautious, still afraid of this invisible threat. The cover does however help me to control the things that I can, and that in itself is a reason for me to recommend this product to other Mother’s and Mother’s to be.
Honestly, there is so much to love about this product. Here are a few highlights I’d like to point out:
1. Claro Baby is a small family run business.
When you buy from a small business you’re not helping a CEO gain a 3rd vacation home. You’re helping a little girl get dance lessons. You’re helping a little boy get his favorite book. You’re helping a family put food on the table.
Yes, yes, yes! I am honestly really big on supporting small businesses, and not only is this one small, but it is also family-run. The name is derived from the names of the two daughters of the company owners. To me, that means that someone is taking the quality of this product personally. Their name is on the product, their expectation of excellence is automatically going to be higher than that of a corporate machine. Clear as day they lay out their mission statement on the About Us page of their website –
Since the foundation of the company, Claro Baby has been on a singular mission: to offer high quality and safe products for babies and their parents at exceptional value and affordable prices.
2. Product Style and Versatility
You can 100% tell that a parent designed this cover. I should have said this earlier, I have had more than one shopping cart cover in the past. When it comes to kid’s accessories, I am the type of personality that will seek out products that make my life easier. In all honesty, if I would have purchased this one first – I would have had no reason to purchase any more.
The design of the cover is so considerate, from it’s extra-large size, to it’s pockets & loops. It even folds itself up into a little tote. Convenience is the best adjective I could use to describe this thoughtful design, just check out this feature list from their product insert card:
3. Size Matters
This cover is large enough to keep Max’s little paws from coming into contact with anything outside of its soft fabric. At 7 months old, my little guy is all about touching and tasting everything and anything. He seeing the world for the first time and much to my dismay, wants to touch every part of it.
4. The Fabric is Cute
The fabric is a cute underwater scene and because the design includes multicolored fish, it can match most outfits. When I first put my son in the seat he noticed the pattern too, which was pretty fun to watch. The blocks of colors and patterns engaged his little eyes.
5. Compact Design
When I’m ready to put this away it is not another bulky accessory I’m cursing at in the trunk of my car. The entire cover folds down into a small and convenient tote bag. I can’t even begin to say how much I appreciate that. Most days I feel like a complete bag lady, it’s nice that this doesn’t add too much to that.
6. Great Gift for a Baby Shower or Birthday
This shopping cart cover makes a great gift – it’s one of those items people don’t necessarily think of registering for or consider that they may need. So chances are, if you go rogue on a registry or wish list, there won’t be another shopping cart cover given.
7. It’s Washable
Germs, spit-up, bottle (and hopefully not diaper) leakage begone! I can easily throw this in the washer-dryer to keep everything fresh and clean.
8. Excellent Price Point
With all of these features, the $29 price tag is surprising. Once again proving that this is a considerate small business. A product like this one could easily retail for twice as much, but instead, this company chose to make this item more affordable. From Mom’s all over – thank you for that Claro Baby fam!
All in all I am really happy with this cover and as I mentioned earlier, it has become one of the products I will continue to recommend to Mothers and Mothers to be. This cover makes a great gift for a shower or birthday, and by purchasing this cover you are also supporting a small family owned business.

I can say with all honesty that I think that every household with a small child should invest in a copy of the book What Should Danny Do? In my house, it has become invaluable in teaching my son that actions have consequences. The book is a choose your own adventure...
This whimsical Dr. Seuss First Birthday Party I threw for my son was hands down one of my favorites and it was almost all DIY!
When the drooling starts, its time to invest in some drool bibs. I’ve found fleece-lined cotton will absorb the most without dampening your child’s clothing underneath.
