When babies start drooling your best bet is to invest in some functional bibs.

When babies reach around three or four months old, they start drooling more often than normal. Some attribute it to the development of the salivary glands, some to the lack of control in the muscles responsible for the act of swallowing, and others attest it to a phase of development where the baby gets everything it needs through its mouth. Whatever the cause, if you have a baby expect a whole lot of slimy drool that will soak a onesie from head to toe if you don’t catch it quickly enough. Drool bibs are 100% a necessity if you do not want to have to change your baby’s outfit 10 times a day. There are lighter cotton ones that will work for light dribbles, but if your baby is at the point where they are drooling excessively then you’re going to need something heavier.

From the Spit Dribbler to the Uber Goober

When the drooling starts, its time to invest in some drool bibs. I’ve found fleece-lined cotton will absorb the most without dampening your child’s clothing underneath. There are thinner, all-cotton bandanas, and while their stylish and adorable – your baby will soak right through them eventually. The bandana styles are my personal favorite, they seem the get in the way less for longer wear than the full out bibs do.

Here are a few of my tried and tested favorites, click on the images below to shop them on Amazon:

Aside from these bibs being functional, they are also a great accessory that adds character and style to any outfit – even just a plain white onesie. Their versatility and functionality make them great gifts for a new baby. Since this is one of those items you don’t really think about until you need them, there’s a good chance no one else thought of them as a gift either.
